Learn-to-Succeed(SM) Math strengthens students’ math skills including
basic computation, problem solving, measurement, graphing, equations, fractions
and decimals. Lessons are self-directed and focus on the pictorial and symbolic
levels while providing step-by-step instruction. Learn-to-Succeed Math incorporates
Metropolitan Teaching and Learning’s Voyages for grades 1-5 and Math Bridges
for grades 6-8. In addition, more advanced math skills taught through grade
12 are included as part of the program when necessary.

Grades 1-5
Lessons are organized into seven topics. Each topic is further organized
into subtopics, which are composed of lessons that develop similar skills
and concepts. This makes it possible to teach and test skills within a cohesive
mathematics context. Topics include:
- Data Collection and Analysis – Voyages starts
with the data topic, so that students can use what they learn in this topic
as they progress through all other topics.
- Whole Numbers and Decimals I – The program focuses
on numeration and the more basic grade-level skills.
- Geometry (Grade 1), Geomeasure I (Grades 2-5) – In
grade 1, only geometry is covered. In Grades 2–5, the program combines
skills from geometry and measurement and builds on the concepts and computation
taught in Whole Numbers and Decimals I.
- Whole Numbers and Decimals II – The program emphasizes
the meanings and relationships among more advanced number operations and
concepts at each grade level.
- Measurement (Grade 1), Geomeasure II (Grades 2-5) – In
grade 1, only measurement is covered. In grades 2–5, the program
develops geometric and measurement concepts that require the more advanced
computation and number concepts taught in Whole Numbers and Decimals II.
- Fractions (Grades 1-2), Fractions and Mixed Numbers (Grades 3-5) – Fractions
concepts and operations are developed and related to decimals and percents
where appropriate.
- Probability (Grades 1-2), Probability and Statistics (Grades
3-5) – In grades 1 and 2 probability is the focus. In
grades 3–5, the program develops concepts of probability and measures
of central tendencies.
Learn-to-Succeed Math Program Components for
Grades 6-8
This program is designed for students performing one-two years below grade
level. Every chapter begins with a pretest to help teachers identify high priority
lessons. The lessons focus on skills and concepts that are typically deficient
at these levels. There is a consistent, four-page lesson structure with step-by-step
instruction on each skill or concept. Lessons on how to solve open-ended problems
are included. Instructors receive page-by-page guidance, and a comprehensive
assessment program is included.
