Fundamental Tips On How To Write A Five-Paragraph Essay

When it comes to writing academic papers, one of the most important styles is that of a five paragraph essay. Essentially, this is a very simple paper that has an easy to follow structure, which helps to make it fantastic for students who are learning and developing their essay writing skills, as well as a useful tool to provide a short but effective discussion based on a certain topic.

In fact, the five paragraph essay in many ways forms the basis of most other academic papers. For example, the structure of an introduction, a body section, and a conclusion can be expanded so as to become more in-depth, but ultimately follow the same principles. These principles have been outlined below, so as to give you some fundamental tips about how to write this style of paper.

The beginning

The beginning of your five paragraph paper will start with the opening paragraph, which will contain your introduction. Essentially, you will use the introduction to describe any topic that you will be discussing throughout the rest of the paper; furthermore, if you have a hypothesis or any primary and secondary questions that you wish to answer then it is best to include them within the introduction.

Ultimately, once the reader has read your introduction they should have a good understanding of what to expect from the rest of the essay.

The middle

After the introduction paragraph you will then have a further three paragraphs that should be used as the body section of your paper. The body section will essentially be used to describe or write about any ideas, arguments or other points that you may wish to make.

Each new paragraph in your body section should essentially outline something new or different. Therefore, if you are writing an argumentative paper, you would use these three paragraphs for three different arguments. Generally, you will begin with your strongest argument first, before including any further arguments, which may be important, but might not necessarily be quite so persuasive.

The end

Having used for paragraphs for the introduction and body sections, you will then have one final paragraph remaining. This final paragraph will be used for the conclusion. Essentially, your conclusion should bring your paper to a close, and should refer to any arguments or other points already made earlier on in the paper, without bringing up any new information.
